EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – “Raise the Woof for Warriors” is an event benefiting a national non-profit, which matches veterans with service dogs.
“We’re holding a week-long special event here at Century Fitness to raise awareness and money for TADSAW, which stands for, ‘Train a Dog, Save a Warrior,'” said a Century Fitness employee.
These dogs come from shelters, and are trained to provide assistance and comfort to disabled veterans. The goal is to provide more trained rescue dogs to help serve the needs of veterans who are living with disabilities after serving in combat. Service dogs go through rigorous training to learn how to assist veterans suffering from physical or emotional disabilities.
“The community should support this, because canines are doing good things and providing lots of help,” veteran Stewart Warshaw told 22News.
These week-long fundraising activities include raffles, military themed workouts and a prize auction.”Raise the Woof for Warriors” hopes to raise at least $5,000 to cover service dogs for 2 deserving veterans.
