CHICOPEE, Mass. (Mass Appeal)  You can use herbs for so much more than cooking!  Carol Joyce is the Owner of White Buffalo Herbs in Warwick showed us how to use sage in cooking & cosmetics.

Sage Fritters

1/3 cup olive oil
handful of fresh picked sage leaves
½ cup milk or cream
whole wheat flour
Daily Dash
Salt & pepper added to taste.

Directions
1. Pour small amount of Olive Oil (or other oil) into large skillet (I prefer cast iron).
2. Heat to bubbling.
3. While oil heats, roll sage leaf (ves) in milk & then in flour to coat>
4. Lay single layer of leaves in skillet to brown.
5. Turn over to brown other side.
6. Take out with slotted spoon & drain on a paper towel.
7. Sprinkle with salt & pepper or Daily Dash.
Serve HOT! (Terrific with Thanksgiving turkey)

Multi-purpose SAGE Body “Tea”

  • 1 tsp dried or 1 Tbsp fresh sage leaves
  • 1 cup boiling water

Directions
1 Put sage in a cup.
2. Pour boiling water over (like making a cup of sage tea)
3. Steep 15 min
4. Strain & use:
b. or on hair (after it cools) as a darkening rinse
c. as a gargle for sore throats
d. as an herbal medicine, to be drunk as directed to reduce excessive sweats, to use as an underarm deodorant.

SAGE essential oil can also be added to ROSEMARY & used for extra strength HAIR follicle stimulation (to work on baldness & thinning hair.
