Agawam school celebrated National Take A Vet To School Day

Veterans arrived at the school around 8 a.m.

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Students at the Roberta Doering School in Agawam showed their respect to our nation’s veterans Wednesday. The School hosted its annual “Take a Vet to School” event Wednesday.

Veterans from both past and present wars spoke with the fifth and sixth grade students about their experiences serving our country.

U.S. Army veteran Patrick Asta-Ferraro has been participating in this event for six years. “Kids have a very unique point of view. it’s very genuine. And I think it spurs some conversations and some thoughts that lend themselves to a good interaction and a good experience.”

A cake cutting ceremony was also held today to honor the U.S. Marine Corp, which was founded on November 10th, 1775.
