Springfield voters approved Question 5 on Community Preservation Act

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield voters have said yes on Question 5, which would allow the city to raise Community Preservation Act funds.

With all precincts reporting, the “yes” side has come out on top with 26,665 votes or 62% to the “no: side’s 16,031 votes or 38%.

The CPA proposal would place a 1.5% surcharge on residents’ real estate tax bills. Community Preservation Act funding goes toward projects such as preserving historic buildings, setting aside open space, and providing affordable housing.
