Body recovered from the Connecticut River in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Fire Department was called to Clinton Street, late Tuesday afternoon, to recover a body from the Connecticut River.

According to Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, Springfield Police called the fire department for assistance around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday to help recover a body near 67 Clinton Street.

The rescue squad used a stokes basket and ropes to get the body up and over the embankment, Leger said.
