WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Nearly 200 residents in the Town of Wilbraham were left in the dark, early Monday night, after a tractor trailer accident knocked out power.
Wilbraham Police Sgt. Mark Paradis told 22News that an 18-wheeler attempted a U-turn on Stony Hill Road and snagged a guy-wire to a utility pole, around 5:00 p.m. Monday.
The truck took down at least one pole, and brought three transformers to the ground. Sgt. Paradis said a couple hundred people lost power, and two of the transformers were leaking; at least five poles were affected.
Stony Hill Road was closed from Weston Street to River Road. The road has since reopened. At one point, the National Grid outage map was showing at least 181 customers without power.
No one was hurt in the accident. 22News will continue to follow this story and bring you the latest information, on-air and on WWLP.com, when it becomes available.
