SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A volunteer work force of American International College students spent hours helping neighbors cope with the problem of falling leaves.
From early Sunday morning until later in the day, the student clean-up crews went from backyard to backyard ridding the lawns of leaves in Springfield’s upper Hill neighborhood where the college is located.
Dozens of students manned the rakes and pick up bags during this day of community action.
Junior Trent Dillon told 22News, “We are going from yard to yard. We hope the community is happy with us. We try to involve ourselves, we try to volunteer ourselves, we try to make sure they know what we are, what we stand for around here.”
For Otis Rutherford, who’s been a resident of the upper hill for 53 years, the AIC clean-up crew was a welcome sight.
The college does this every year to be a good neighbor.
