Welcome Home Veterans Dinner & Dance held in Holyoke

Organizers hope that this event can be held once a year

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Local Vietnam veterans were honored at an event in Holyoke Friday night. The “Welcome Home Veterans Dinner & Dance” was held at the Log Cabin and was emceed by 22News Meteorologist Adam Strzempko.

veterans-dinner-adam-strzempko_00000Close to 300 veterans and their families attended the event which featured food and live entertainment. One event organizer told 22News that the event was a way of giving back to the veterans for all they have done for this country.

Department of Veterans Services State Secretary Francisco Urena said, “Tonight is a night about building trust, bringing that sense of good will, that sense to tell our veterans that their service mattered, the sacrifice mattered and to thank many of our gold star families that are here tonight.”

Organizers hope that this event can be held once a year to honor the services of western Massachusetts veterans.
