CiderDays in Franklin County begins Friday night

The cider-celebrating event has been going on for over 20 years.

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Friday night marks the beginning of the 22nd Annual Franklin County CiderDays. Many Franklin County towns will be participating in the cider-related fun including Greenfield, Deerfield, Shelburne, and Colrain.

The CiderDays festivities begin at 8 p.m. Friday with a cider tasting at the Arts Block in downtown Greenfield and ends on Sunday. The event includes many different cider workshops, cider tastings, and orchard tours.

Clarkdale Fruit Farms of Deerfield has been part of CiderDays since it started 20 years ago. Co-owner Tom Clark says that “After Halloween and before Thanksgiving, orchards have plenty of apples and cider available to keep the cider season going.”

Lots of locals enjoy the event but it also brings in plenty of tourists. Clark told 22News he’s seen people come all the way from Canada and England. He added that he’s expecting to see at least a thousand people by the end of Sunday.
