SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Friends of the Homeless is hoping to raise $200,000 from public contributions for next year. Executive Director Bill Miller told 22News the money helps pay for services at their shelter on Worthington Street.
Miller said he’s proud those services help 15 to 20 homeless men and women every month find jobs and move into apartments. Miller introduced 22News to Luiz Rivera whose about to end his homelessness. Rivera told us he’s working with a social worker and finding a job.
Friends of the Homeless provide beds for 100 of the homeless every night at their complex on Worthington Street. Miller is hoping that local residents will give generously to Friends of the Homeless.
