Hundreds download app to help fight crime

So far, more than 500 residents have downloaded the app

BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – Belchertown Police are helping town residents fight crime with a smartphone app.

Belchertown Police Sergeant Kevin Pacunas told 22News residents can receive alerts on crime, traffic and power outages on the “MyPD” app.  It’s a free download that also has information on sex offenders, and links to the Police’s Facebook page, and website.

Police are planning a smartphone demonstration at the senior center. So far, more than 500 residents have downloaded the app.
