Turners Falls residents shaken up by Monday night stabbing

A Turners Falls man has been charged with attempted murder in the stabbing.

TURNERS FALLS, Mass. (WWLP) – A Halloween night stabbing has Turners Falls residents on edge.

“You don’t know what could happen. If that could happen in someone’s apartment why couldn’t that happen while I’m enjoying an afternoon by the river,” said Carrie Keefe of Turners Falls.

A downtown business called Montague Police Monday night to report a stabbing victim. Police found a 35 year old man with stab wounds to his head, face, and arm. He was taken flown via helicopter ambulance to Baystate Medical center in Springfield. He’s expected to survive. The victim told police he was stabbed in an apartment on L Street.

Two and a half hours later police arrested Christopher Chicoine. Montague Police Chief Charles Dodge told 22News, that they received a call around 10 o clock Monday night from Chicoine saying he wanted to turn himself in.

He was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Police also charged Lindsay Wan with being an accessory. Both suspects are from Turners Falls.

“This was an isolated incident and at no time were any innocent people going to be a victim,” said Chief Charles Dodge of the Montague Police Department.

Dodge told 22News he believes the stabbing was a result of a drug issue.

The two suspects were arraigned Tuesday in Greenfield District Court. Wan was released on $150 bail. Chicoine is being held on 10-thousand dollars bail.
