Paperwork still not filed for marijuana dispensary in Holyoke

The company is leasing the old Maple Tree Industrial Building

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse told 22News the company that wants to build a marijuana dispensary in the city, still hasn’t filed the necessary paperwork.

GTI Massachusetts wants to grow the marijuana in Palmer, and then ship it to Holyoke. They’re leasing the old Maple Tree Industrial Building as the cultivation center, but they haven’t said where they’ll open the dispensary in Holyoke, or applied for the necessary permit.

Joel Nieves of Holyoke said, “I think it’s a good idea if you use it for cancer, I went through that myself; or for pain, I think that’s a great idea.”

The proposed Palmer cultivation facility is roughly 30,000 square feet, but GTI would have the opportunity to expand it up to 80,000 square feet. Once it’s up and running, it would employ 50 people.
