Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend

Get ready to change those clocks back

"Just get started" is one expert's mantra to help procrastinators get moving.

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Get ready to change your clocks this weekend. 22News is working for you with what else you should be changing.

You’ll have an extra hour of sleep this Sunday morning, but we’ll be losing an hour of daylight.

We’re used to the sun setting around 5:40 in the evening. But after we turn the clocks back Saturday night, the sun will be setting around 4:40 Sunday night. That means sunrise will be around 6:30 in the morning, making it brighter for the kids at the bus stop.

But as we fall back an hour at 2 a.m. Sunday, don’t forget to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

22News talked to Deputy Fire Chief BJ Calvi, from the Agawam Fire Department, who told 22News, “We encourage people to change their smoke detectors, change your clocks, change your batteries out of your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.”

Agawam Deputy Fire Chief BJ Calvi also said this is a good time to create a family plan in case of a fire. Make sure each family member knows what to do if there is a fire, how to establish a meeting spot outside, and how to call 911.
