Alleged drunk driver crashed into house in Belchertown

BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – A Belchertown resident has been charged with drunk driving, after police say he drove his car more than 200 feet off the road, crashing into a house.

According to Belchertown police, the 35 year-old man went over several lawns, ultimately driving 202 feet off the road, before crashing into the house on Chestnut Drive at around 8:30 P.M. People were home at the time of the crash, but they were not hurt.

The driver was taken to Baystate Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer for treatment of minor injuries. He was arraigned Wednesday at Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown on charges of operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

His name has not been released at this time.
