Agawam man struck and killed by truck on Mass Pike in Warren identified

WARREN, Mass. (WWLP) – The man who died after being struck by a tractor trailer on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Warren last week has been identified.

State Police Sgt. Thomas Ryan told 22News that 38 year-old Christoper Austin of Agawam died at the crash site late Thursday morning.

According to State Police Media Relations, the department’s investigation indicates that Austin had walked into the right travel lane, where he was struck by the truck. The driver of the truck, a 50 year-old Syracuse, N.Y. resident, stopped following the crash.

The right and breakdown lanes of I-90 eastbound in Warren were shut down for hours as troopers investigated the crash.

Ryan said that no charges have been filed against the driver of the truck at this time.
