SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Baystate Children’s Hospital brought some Halloween spirit to children that weren’t able to celebrate the holiday in the traditional way.
Baystate staff and nurses were very creative with their costumes; dressing up as everything from leprechauns to emojis. They took candy and other goodies along with them to hand out to the kids.
The hospital makes it a point to help the children celebrate, and just let them be kids.
“We try to do special things on holidays every year to provide that normal life for these kids, since they have to be in the hospital and can’t do what they would be normally would do with friends and family. So we try to bring a little bit of home to the hospital for them,” Child Life Specialist Meghan Brewer said.
Some other Halloween activities that the children will be participating in: making slime, karaoke, and of course, eating candy.
