GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Greenfield’s Downtown is crowded with kids tonight for the city’s annual Halloween tradition. Trick-or-treaters have been walking through downtown and collecting candy from local businesses.
The kids also participated in a “Rag Shag Parade” which stepped off at 5:30 p.m. They marched to Energy Park, where there was a costume competition for the kids.
The Greenfield Recreation Department has been organizing the event since 2001. “We really like bringing the community together to help celebrate in a safe location,” Kelly Jenkins said. “Downtown trick or treat is a safe location where kids can come and get candy from the businesses.”
It wasn’t just candy that was given out. Local dentists also provided a free trick or treat bag filled with dental products and other healthy items at the town common.
The event wrapped up with a free showing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” at the Greenfield Garden Cinema at 6:30 p.m.
