A look at past Halloween weather

It's always nice when trick-or-treaters don't have to bring an umbrella

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s always nice when trick-or-treaters don’t have to bring an umbrella. 22News Storm Team is working for you with how Monday night compares to past Halloweens.

Really, Monday is a picture perfect day for trick-or-treating. It’s dry, it’s sunny, but it is a little chilly.

This Halloween is actually cooler than our normal high temperatures for this time of the year. Monday afternoon we stayed in the lower 50’s and our average high temperature for this time of the year is in the upper 50’s, but as one resident told 22News at least it’s not snowing.

Juan of West Springfield said “It’s great it could have been like this 5 years ago but Mother Nature works in mysterious ways.”

We’ve had some memorable Halloweens. The 2011 Halloween snow storm that cancelled some trick-or-treating will not be forgotten. It reminds western Massachusetts that when temperatures are cold enough, it can snow in October.

If you are headed out and don’t want to ruin your costume make sure you are at least wearing some layers underneath.
