School bus accident victim remembered in Ashfield

Summer Steele had been boarding the bus for her ride home when things went terribly wrong

ASHFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A sad day in Franklin County, as classmates and their families remembered the 9 year old girl killed in a school bus accident Friday. Whole families came to the Sanderson Academy service Sunday afternoon in the town of Ashfield.

9 year old, Summer Steele of Plainfield, had been boarding the bus for her ride home Friday when things went terribly wrong. Northwestern District Attorney Spokeswoman, Mary Carey, told 22News, the child had been dragged and then run over by her school bus.

Families from throughout the school district accepted the superintendent’s invitation to come for counseling and to mourn the loss of the 9 year old girl.
