Possible home invasion and armed robbery at Amherst home

It's believed this was a targeted incident and that the public isn't at risk

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Amherst police have arrested one man and are searching for three others in connection with a suspected home invasion armed robbery early Sunday morning.

Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office notified 22News that the incident occurred on South East Street, where 22News cameras were rolling as police officers used their flashlights in hopes of finding leads in the early morning darkness.

The victim is at Baystate Medical Center, where he’s been treated for arm lacerations. Police aren’t sure of the weapon.

Carey said Patrick Bemben, 25, of Hadley, is expected to be arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court on Monday on one charge of armed robbery.

It’s believed this was a targeted incident and that the public isn’t at risk.
