Removing the wet leaves from your lawn

Wet leaves stay closer to the ground

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – After the snow and rain we just got, you might be looking to clean up some of the leaves that came down.

While it is important to get the leaves off your lawn, you should let them dry out a bit before you mulch them or rake them up. Wet leaves stay closer to the ground and will be harder to pick up if you’re mulching.

There is still some time before all the leaves come down, but you’ll want to clean them up before winter officially arrives.

“If you don’t get the leaves you’ll have a matting effect if we get a snow and the leaves mat onto your lawn you’ll end up with dead patches when you rake them up,” said Store Manager at 16 Acres Garden Center Pete Furnari.

Furnari says once the snow we just had melts there is still time to cut your lawn one last time and put down fertilizer.
