SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A hiker was reported hurt at the Joseph Allen Skinner State Park on Friday, prompting a massive rescue operation. South Hadley Firefighter Mike Bourbeau told 22News the hiker slipped down a rock face.

Bourbeau said the terrain was so rough, so the department called in Granby and Hadley fire departments to assist. A Regional Tech Rescue Team responded as well.

It took them about three hours to find the hiker, and set up a rope system so they could lower him down in a basket. He was taken the hospital around 6:00 p.m. Friday, but is expected to be okay.
