(NBC News) – The Oscars are months away, but Hollywood is already talking about the films getting major buzz.
“La La Land” starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling tops the list. It follows the romance between a jazz musician and an aspiring actress, but you’ll have to wait until December 16th to catch it.
Hitting theaters on November 18th, “Manchester by the Sea” also tops the potential Best Picture list. Starring Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams, the movie follows Affleck as he’s suddenly entrusted to raise his nephew.
Oscar winner Ang Lee’s latest film “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk” is also expected to top the Oscar race. It takes a look at a soldier’s experience in the Iraq War and how it differs from the coverage Americans see here at home. It’s in theaters November 11th.
The historical drama “Loving” is also expected to heat up the Oscar race. The drama about interracial couple sentenced to prison for getting married in 1958 is out November 4th.
Finally, Denzel Washington directs and stars in “Fences”, the movie that explores race relations in the 1950s hits theaters on Christmas Day.
