CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Hundreds of people attended a unique fundraiser with an unusual dress requirement. More than 300 people donned “Black Ties and Sneakers” for the Boys & Girls Club of Chicopee’s annual gala at the Castle of Knights Friday evening.
This fundraising event has grown exponentially since it started five years, when only 75 people attended. It supports the club’s mission to help young people reach their full potential as a caring responsible citizens.
Bill Sharp, Volunteer at Chicopee Boys and Girls Club told 22News, “What I see is a really committed staff making a difference in their lives. They get a lot from the people who help them out each day and it’s really helping to shape them for their futures.”
The Black Tie & Sneakers Gala is the Boys and Girls Club’s largest fundraising event of the year. 22News Reporter Alessandra Martinez served as emcee for Friday night’s celebration.
