WARREN, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Agawam died after being struck by a tractor trailer on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Warren, Thursday morning.

Trooper Paul Sullivan of State Police Media Relations told 22News that the driver was attending his vehicle around 11:00 a.m., which was on the side of the road on the eastbound side in Warren. It was then that the 38-year-old man was struck by the tractor trailer.

The right and breakdown lanes of the highway had been closed for hours as police investigate the crash, leading to backups. All lanes of traffic were reopened around 3:30 p.m.

The victim’s name is not being released yet. State Police said the crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time. They said the driver of the tractor trailer, a 50-year-old man from Syracuse, New York, remained at the crash site.
