$3.4 million grant to STCC will help Latino students achieve

Money designed to encourage students in STEM fields

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Technical Community College has received millions of dollars to help Hispanic students reach their goals.

$3.4 million will hopefully help create success stories for Latino students studying science, technology, engineering, and math.

When STCC freshman Cierra Arroyo heard about the investment in Latino students, she told 22News that this money will help overcome obstacles.

“It does, especially people who English is not their first language, it gives them the help so they can obtain the right materials to reach their goals in life,” Arroyo said.

The $3.4 million will finance a five-year program. STCC is the only Massachusetts community college receiving this money.
