EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man is facing charges after allegedly rear ending a police cruiser and injuring an officer.

Police say 24-year-old Ryan Macaluso, of Abington, will be arraigned Monday at Brockton District Court. He faces a charge of operating under the influence, his second such offense, as well as reckless driving and failing to stop.

Police say at about 1 a.m. Saturday that an East Bridgewater police cruiser was struck from behind while stopped at a red light. They say the officer, who they declined to name, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but later released.

Macaluso also sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment and two passengers in his car were uninjured.

Macaluso was released pending his arraignment. It couldn’t be immediately determined if he has a lawyer.
