Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Springfield

Police are still trying to determine the exact cause of the crash

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man was hit by a car early this Saturday morning in Springfield near the corner of Main and Montpelier Street.

Springfield Police Lt. Richard Labelle told 22News that police responded to the call around 2 o’clock this morning. The pedestrian suffered head wounds and was taken to Baystate Medical Center for treatment.

Lt. Labelle told 22News the victim is expected to be okay. The driver of the car was arrested for motor vehicle related offenses. The windshield was cracked in several places, but otherwise the car appeared to have minor damage.

Police are still trying to determine the exact cause of the crash at this time.
