The witch is back! Neighbors brought new decorations over following theft

Group of people saw story on 22News, brought her decorations

This festive Halloween witch is back on the front porch of Maryjane Mejias' house in Holyoke. The decoration had been stolen on Tuesday night.

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – After an unamusing pre-Halloween trick, some good neighbors decided to treat a woman who had a decorative witch stolen off her front porch. Maryjane Mejias said that the witch, which had been the centerpiece of her Halloween display, was stolen on Tuesday.

She shared her story with 22News on Wednesday, and after it aired that night, she says a group of good Samaritans found and returned her witch to its place on the porch.

Mejias said they explained to her that after seeing what happened, some neighbors got some more decorations to bring over to her house. Two of the items are large blow-up figures. She said that the kids who visit her house on Halloween will just adore the new décor.

She told 22News that she didn’t get the names of these good neighbors, but she wanted to express her thanks for their act of kindness. “It’s just unbelievable, all the emails, everyone on Facebook,” she said. It’s just wonderful to make this an even better event. I can’t wait for Halloween, It’s going to be fun!”

It’s been fifteen years since she started transforming her front yard into Halloween wonderland for the children in her Holyoke neighborhood.
