Springfield College warn students of recent sexual assault incident

The school provides a 24/7 safety escort service for anyone walking across campus

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Students were informed Thursday that an alleged sexual assault incident happened on the campus of Springfield College.

On Thursday, the college sent out an email to students warning them that a sexual assault had been reported. They told students that the assault could pose a threat to campus safety.

According to an email sent out by the schools public safety, the alleged sexual assault incident happened at about early Wednesday morning by an unknown suspect in Abbey-Appleton Hall. Suspect description and details are unknown at this time. Springfield College sent safety tips to students as well.

“I got an email that night, they just told us to be aware, lock our doors, stay with friends, take precautions, don’t put yourself out there and always be aware of your surroundings” said one student.

They said they provide a 24/7 safety escort service for anyone who feels unsafe when walking across campus. They also encourage students to use their shuttle service.

The Springfield College Public Safety Department is still looking into this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Springfield College Police.
