Granby P.D. honors National Bullying Prevention Month

GRANBY, Mass. (WWLP) – The Granby Police Department is coming together for a unique way to try and prevent bullying. Members of the department accepted the #UnifySelfieChallenge.

Officers took selfies with their hands over their mouths, representing the silence associated with bullying.

George Rivera of Chicopee told 22News being bullied is hard, but in the end, it made him a stronger person. “If you’re strong, you’ll learn how to move ahead and build character. And take all that negative and turn it into a positive.”

Sgt. Kevin O’Grady told 22News the entire department accepted the challenge. He said they’ve now challenged the Granby Fire Department, Granby schools and the MacDuffie School.

The goal is to get 50 states and 50 countries to participate in the next 50 days.
