East Longmeadow non-profit accused of inappropriate charges

The agency charged expenses that were not allowed

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – An East Longmeadow non-profit agency is accused of inappropriately charging Massachusetts more than $20,000 in expenses.

State Auditor Suzanne Bump released the findings on Thursday of an audit of Aditus Inc. The organization, which provides services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, operates out of this house on Glendale Road.

According to the audit, the agency charged more than $22,000 in expenses that were not allowed. The expenses reportedly covered gifts, catering, and alcohol, as well as interest and late fees on credit cards.

Steve Moloney of East Longmeadow said the charges make him question where he gives his money; “I work hard for my money like everybody else does. I want to make sure it goes to the right place. In waste, no matter if it’s for the town, corporations, or whatever, it’s a concern, and I think it should be for everybody.”

22News called Aditus Inc. President and CEO Susan Lakso. She said her team needs to review the audit further before giving our newsroom a comment.
