CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Norwottuck rail trail is an 11 mile route from Northampton to Belchertown. It’s a popular place to ride the bicycle, go for a walk or a jog, or take the pets out from some fresh air.

Wednesday’s warm temperatures made it feel more like August, and gave people what could be the final glimpse into the summer season that’s behind us.

As we brace for colder air in the weeks and months ahead, that wasn’t what was on the minds of people who lived in the moment and took advantage of this day to be outside.

Laura Lane from Marlborough told 22News, “We’re usually bundled up when we ride this time of the year, but this is a real treat.”

Denis Laforce from Sutton told 22News, “This is summer weather when we are in October. The leaves should have fallen off of the trees a couple of weeks ago. We should be cycling in three of four layers and we are in single layers and just enjoying the day.”

The Norwottuck Rail Trail is also a great spot to view the New England foliage, which in many places is at its peak.
