MONSON, Mass. (WWLP) – Money that was only intended to be used in the movies was instead used to make purchases at a Monson business, and now police are warning residents and local shop owners.

Monson police say that fake $20 bills have been circulating around town recently. In one case, a cashier accepted one of the bills, not realizing it was phony until after the customer had exited.

The bills are marked “Motion Picture Use Only” on the front and back. Other noticeable differences include the lack of the words “Federal Reserve Note” on the top front side of the bill, incorrect Federal Reserve System and Treasury Department insignia, incorrect signatures for Secretary of the Treasury and Treasurer of the United States, a distorted nose on President Jackson’s face, and a misshapen White House on the rear of the bill.
