2 cars destroyed in Westfield after fire started in a garage

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A garage fire in Westfield temporarily shut down a section of Columbia Street, Tuesday night.

Westfield Fire Deputy Patrick Kane told 22News the fire started just after 6:00 p.m. in a detached garage. When 22News arrived on Columbia Street, residents were on the street as crews worked to put the fire out.

One car inside the garage caught fire and was destroyed, Deputy Kane said. The fire then spread to a car parked just outside the garage, which was also destroyed.

No one was hurt, and Columbia Street has since reopened. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
