WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The young man killed in a crash Saturday night in Westfield has been identified as a 24 year-old West Springfield resident.
Jim Leydon, spokesperson for the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office, told 22News that Justin Messier died at the crash site off Russellville Road. Leydon says Messier was a passenger in a car driven by 19 year-old Nick Sanchez.
Sanchez’s car went off the road and crashed in a wooded area. Westfield police, state police, and the district attorney’s office are still looking into what caused Sanchez to crash.
Sanchez was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for injuries he sustained in the crash, and is expected to survive.
