STORRS, Conn. (AP) — A student at the University of Connecticut has been struck and killed by a vehicle for the campus fire department.

Connecticut State Police say it happened around 2:48 a.m. Sunday while the student was walking on campus in Storrs.

Few other details were released.

Police did not release the student’s name and said next of kin had not yet been identified. Trooper First Class Kelly Grant says once the family is notified, they will release more information.

UConn police responded to the scene but have turned over the investigation to state police.
