Springfield walk raises money to feed the hungry

25 percent of the money goes to local hunger projects

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Raising money to help feed the hungry motivated hundreds of Springfield area supporters on Sunday.

Many demonstrated their support during the annual CROP walk through the Forest Park neighborhood. It’s an annual event that brings together men and women who care about local and global efforts to provide food for those in need.

25 percent of this money goes to Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen, the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts and the Open Pantry. The rest goes around the United States and around the world for hunger projects.

Once again 22News storm team meteorologist Brian Lapis hosted the event and helped motivate the dozens of participants. Brian has been the emcee for this humanitarian event for many years.
