Lorraine's annual harvest run and walk at Williams Family Park

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen in Chicopee held its own outdoor activity Sunday to raise much needed money to continue its mission providing food for the low income population.

It was Lorraine’s annual harvest run and walk at Williams Family Park. Lorraine’s Kitchen executive director Andrea Marion explained to 22News that every bit helps.

Andrea Marion, Executive Director of Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, told 22News, “We are able to get food from the western Massachusetts food bank for about ten cents a pound so the money really goes a lot further. We help out about 6500 people a year that’s 12 percent of Chicopee’s population we give 400,000 pound of food for our clients.

Lorraine’s kitchen has been mainstay in Chicopee for more than half a century helping feed the homeless and families of limited means.
