Celebration of Hope hosts pink mass to raise money for cancer research

Guests took part in a balloon release to honor their loved ones

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Celebration of Hope held their 6th annual pink mass in Springfield Saturday to raise money for cancer research.

Those in attendance at St. Michael’s Cathedral donated to five local cancer charities, including Cancer House of Hope, Baystate Health Foundation, and Livestrong at the YMCA.

The Western Massachusetts chapter president, Barb Turcotte, said she and the rest of the board are so thankful for the opportunity to raise money for a cause that affects so many people.

Turcotte told 22News, “Because this is a total volunteer board and we’ve all been affected through ourselves or a loved one, and that’s what this is all about.”

22News meteorologist Nick Bannin served as the host of Saturday’s event, and led the guests in a balloon release to honor their loved ones.
