LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – A Level 3 Sex Offender was arrested early Thursday morning after the report of a woman being assaulted in the Parish Center Hall Chapel of the Christ the King Parish in Ludlow.
According to Ludlow Police Sgt. Daniel Valadas, the departments dispatch received a “frantic” 911 call around 12:35 a.m. Thursday from a woman who claimed to have just been assaulted by a man at 41 Warsaw Avenue in Ludlow.
When officers arrived to the area, they assisted the 57-year-old woman, who Sgt. Valadas said refused to be taken to a hospital but was described as being “distraught, frantic, and crying.” The victim told police she was choked from behind and pushed against a wall in the chapel.
Sgt. Valadas said the woman “did not appear to have sustained any serious injuries from her attacker.”
The attacker was identified as 52-year-old Mario T. Felici of Springfield; an active Level 3 Sex Offender in Massachusetts. Sgt. Valadas said Springfield Police assisted with arresting Felici, and charged him with Assault & Battery, Strangulation/Suffocation, and Threatening to Commit a Crime.
Felici will be arraigned in Palmer District Court on a future date.
