SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Several states are still recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. The American Red Cross of Western Massachusetts is now asking for your help.
The Red Cross is asking for donations to buy more food, snacks, blankets, and other emergency supplies. Six western Massachusetts residents will be delivering the donations in the Carolinas and Florida.
They’re also asking for blood and platelet donations, which are being distributed to hospitals as quickly as they come in. “Blood is critical because the areas that were affected forced our blood donation sites to close and lose the opportunity to collect blood,” Red Cross Executive Director Jennifer Garutti told 22News.
Blood donations can be made at 150 Brookdale Drive in Springfield.
The Red Cross is also looking for help refilling their emergency supplies. You can do that by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) or text MATTHEW to 90999 for $10 donations. Click Here to make a cash donation.
