CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – While drought conditions continue at least is isn’t getting any worse.
After a little bit of rain yesterday, the sun was back in full force today. Fortunately, the drought doesn’t seem to be having a major impact on our fall foliage as there is still some nice fall color to be found.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor has parts of Hampshire and Franklin Counties still in the Extreme Drought Category but in eastern parts of the state, where they received more rain than we did last weekend, the extreme drought area has gotten smaller.
“Well you can tell that the lawns are greening up again and the pond levels aren’t too low so it must be helping out a little bit,” said Glen Davis of Springfield.
There are still signs of the ongoing drought, the Connecticut River is still running very low and you can even see some islands forming in the middle of it.
