2 cats rescued from abandoned home up for adoption at Dakin

Two cats are still not located

Boo the cat

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A 4-year-old female cat named Boo is ready to be adopted at the Dakin Humane Society in Springfield. Boo is one of two indoor cats that West Springfield Animal Control officers rescued from a foreclosed home on Queen avenue Thursday. Two other outdoor cats are still in the area. Animal Control is still trying to catch them.

The Humane Society’s Lee Chambers told 22News that animal lovers are quick to adopt pets that they’ve grown emotionally attached to from their ordeals. “People were interested in this outcome,” she explained. “So we hope that kitties that are with us now will draw the same attention.”

Boo’s companion, 2-year-old Dakota, isn’t quite healthy enough for adoption yet. But for animal lovers anxious to give Boo a fresh start, the Dakin Humane Society Shelter in Springfield opens at 12:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
