BOSTON (WWLP) – The Massachusetts Health Connector is urging residents to check that applications are up-to-date. They’re in the process of updating members’ eligibility and many people might have to pay higher premiums starting in December.

The Open Enrollment period begins November 1st. That’s when people can log onto the Health Connector website to compare different health insurance options and enroll in a plan.

Insurance premiums are rising. At the same time, government assistance is going down as the state transitions into the federal Affordable Care Act.

The state is reminding people who get their health insurance through the Connector to update their information to get the best value.

“Members that see a premium increase, almost every single one of them can get the same exact set of benefits with a cheaper option,” deputy Director Ashley Hague told 22News. “They might not have the same set of providers, but they actually might still have your primary physician.”

If you don’t update your information, the Health Connector said you can expect to see a much higher premium on your December bill.
