Free Bright Nights bus rides for senior citizens

Mayor Kos said seniors can start signing up on November 29th

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Barbara Atherton could well be a hero to thousands of her fellow Chicopee senior citizens.

It was Barbara’s idea ten years ago to give Chicopee seniors free access to Bright Nights at Forest Park. Thanks to donations from businesses, for the last decade Barbara’s idea has been extremely popular.

The Spirit of Springfield’s Judy Matt told 22News that Chicopee Bright Nights for seniors has been scheduled for December 13th through the 16th.

Barbara said, “It’s wonderful, it’s wonderful, that’s all I can say, little children are proud of me for starting it and it’s free.”

Bright nights for seniors now attracts more than 5,000 people. Chicopee Mayor Richard Kos said seniors can start signing up on November 29th.
