MGM Springfield construction moving along as scheduled

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – MGM Springfield construction is on schedule and the city skyline continues to change.

Just a couple weeks ago they installed that 205 foot crane, and it is being put to use. Driving by you can see that the parking garage is nearing the top level. There will be seven levels with spaces for 3,400 cars.

The majority of the foundations have been poured and set, and the steel beam framework is being erected for the casino gaming and entertainment floor.

Thomas LaCoille of Springfield told 22News, “They’re actually starting to work on everything and I think it’s going to be a very big hit.”

Steel beams will also be placed using the crane where the hotel will be located. The $950 million resort casino is expected to be open in September 2018.
