Police searching for armed robber in Springfield’s Pine Point

The robber grabbed some cash from a store employee

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police were actively searching for an armed robbery suspect in the city’s Pine Point section Tuesday night.

Springfield Police Lt. Mark Rolland told 22News a masked man, armed with a black hand-gun, robbed an employee inside the Tedeschi Food Shops on Boston Road at 9:24 p.m. Tuesday.

Lt. Rolland said the robber was a black man dressed all in black, and that he grabbed some cash from an employee in the store. The robber then ran down Breckwood Boulevard. No one was hurt.

Police were actively searching the neighborhood Tuesday night. Lt. Rolland said police dogs tracked the suspect to Gilbert Avenue, a couple of blocks from the robbery, where they found cash, a bag, a cell phone, and a glove.
