Mercedes dealership to replace vacant Chicopee building

The dealership should be up and running by spring 2017

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A long time Chicopee landmark will soon be demolished and turned into something completely different.

The boarded-up and long vacant Plantation Inn on Burnett Road will no longer be visible from the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Once the demolitions complete, the Springfield Automotive Partners group plans to build a luxury car dealership. “We’re putting in a Mercedes dealership, it’ll be Mercedes of Springfield,” said Michael LaMay, the project manager of Mercedes-Benz Springfield.

Once the dealership opens, it will be the only Mercedes-Benz dealer in western Massachusetts. Owner Rich Hesse told 22News he’s confident the dealership will be successful in this location.

LaMay added that the Mercedes dealership will take up about 37,000 square feet, and should be up and running by spring 2017.
